Medical Needs Training Description | Hiawatha Homes, Inc. & Hiawatha Homes Foundation

Hands on training, and a “first look” at medical needs training for staff providing direct support care. This class offers information/training on OSHA, medical equipment use, simple medical procedures/personal cares, basic nutrition training, as well as lift equipment, positioning individuals in bed/wheelchairs, and best practice with transfers. This course also offers new employees first aid training and basic psychotropic medication information. The course is taught by Hiawatha Nursing staff at our Glendale training site. Course must be completed by new employees within the first 2 weeks of employment and before working unsupervised. Class is also offered as an elective for current employees who wish to take the course.
